10 Houses
Third-agers are a demographic of people, aged 65 and over, that has been increasing in Britain over the last few years. These are people that have retired recently but still want to have an active and energetic presence in their community. Often with houses that no longer fit their needs, either for its size or inability to respond to their physical conditions, the move into the care house is usually the anticipated solution to this problem.
This project explores the desires and aspirations of ‘third agers’ and questions traditional ideas of live/work/play, such as accessibility, loneliness, downscaling, childcare, travelling and communal living.
